Projections of  Rainfall, Soil Moisture,Temperature and Relative Humidity:

The rainfall maps for February  2012(see below) indicate the probability for rainfall being above normal, near normal and below normal.Of the fourteen(14) station data analyzed the distribution for rainfall indicated seven(7) stations likely to encounter  in the   above normal category.Central,northern and coastal Belize appears likely to experience rainfall in this category.Big Falls,Toledo  as well as Central Farm in the Cayo district fall in this category.Other stations in this category include the  northern station of Rio Bravo and central areas such as La Democracia and Hummingbird Hershey.Belize Zoo appears as the only location likely to have rainfall near normal for January.Six(6)stations appear likely to have rainfall below normal. They  are the western community  of Spanish Lookout,Belmopan,Tower hill,Libertad and the southern stations of Savannah and  Punta Gorda.

Rainfall totals registered from our network stations for the second dekad in January have shown most  with totals below their normals.The exceptions  have been La Democracia, Belmopan,the International Airport,Chaa Creek and Melinda which have registered totals above normal. Most of these stations are located in central and coastal Belize.

Soil moisture projections  show  near normal soil moisture content   for most of the country.For western parts of the  country,the soil moisture content is trending  below normal.

Temperature projections show the  average minimum temperature for most stations registering values above average.The mean maximum for most stations  has been below average.

For February,historical data from the International Airport showed a mean daily maximum for Feb.,13th to Feb.,16th ranges near 95%.For the same period the daily minimum ranged between 58-63%.Mean maximum relative humidity for coastal areas will average near 95% for the next four days.For inland areas, the mean minimum relative humidity will range near 55%.The mean relative humidity near noon will  range between 60 to 80% for the entire country.
