Consultation for Draft National Water Bill

Please be advised that a national public consultation for the
draft National Water Resources Bill is being planned commencing during the last
week in May, 2006 and continuing through until June 21, 2006. The plan is to
finalize the public consultations with a National Public Hearing on the Bill in
Belmopan, possibly at the George Price Center for Peace and Development. At this
half-day hearing, we hope to receive the final inputs and comments on the
proposed Water Resources Bill, for consideration and incorporation into the said
Bill. The schedule for the public consultations is as follow:
Southern Region
Dangriga Town May 31, at 9:00 pm – 12:00pm Town Council Hall
Punta Gorda Town May 31, at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Parish Hall
Independence June 1, at 9:30 am – 12:00 pm Community Center
Central Region
Benque Viejo June 6, at 9:00 am Town Council Building
San Ignacio June 6, at 6:00 pm Town Council Building
Spanish Look Out June 7, at 9:00 am Community Center
Belize City June 8, at 5:00 pm Holy Redeemer Parish Hall
Northern Region
Caye Caulker June 13, at 10:00 am Village Community Center
San Pedro Ambergris Caye June 13, at 10:00 am Town Council
Building
Corozal Town June 15, at 9:00 am, Town Council Building
Orange Walk Town June 15, at 5:00 pm, Town Council Building
Countrywide Hearing
Belmopan City June 21, 2006 commencing at 9:00 am at the
George Price Center.
Additionally, draft copies of the Water Resources Bill will
be available at all Municipal Council Offices and Town libraries for public
review from Thursday, May 18, 2006.
In connection with the public consultations on the proposed
Water Resources Bill, please be kind enough to prepare public adds of these
events in the Newspapers and Radio, so as to publicize the scheduled
consultations to as wide an audience as possible.
Your kind cooperation and consideration in this matter is
highly appreciated.
