Rainfall and River stage associated with
unstable upper level conditions and a tropical wave.
Infrared
satellite imagery and observations indicate heavy showers and
thunderstorms developed in the south and spread over the remainder of
the country during the night. The first visible imagery this morning was
showing deep convection persisting over the Stann Creek and Corozal
districts while reports from the west indicate heavy rainfall persisting
over the Cayo and Western Belize district. Reports from Becol indicate .54ins of rainfall was recorded last night and Water levels at Chalillo
was 400.88 meters while at Mollejon the level was 265.92 meters with
both spilling. The Macal river continues to rise and with additional
rainfall the low lying wooden bridge at San Ignatio could
possibly become flooded. A tropical wave crossing the country
coupled with very unstable upper level conditions will maintain showery
weather conditions during today and tonight with a gradual but only
temporary improvement expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Another
tropical wave is forecast to affect the country into the weekend.
